On a day when the news of the world was frightening indeed, with talk of war and destruction, how serendipitous that Nathaniel Altman was the guest on the live show, now this week’s wonderful podcast. Nathaniel is the author of twenty books including The Nonviolent Revolution, featured on this episode. Our opening guest is the enchanting globetrotter Wendy Werneth, coming to us from Lisbon, Portugal, and discussing how to dine famously as a vegan around the world.

We have a sponsor and they can save you money! Because vegans are shown to live healthier and longer than the population at large, our friends Health IQ have teamed with some of the nation’s most trusted life insurance companies to offer savings to plant-eaters when it’s time to purchase or change life insurance. Check out what’s possible at http://www.HealthIQ.com/mainstreet.

Blast from the past! As you heard on today’s program, I met Nathaniel when we were both kids — back in 1970, when we were working together at the Theosophical Society Headquarters in Illinois. Nathaniel was working on his first book, Eating for Life, the first book on vegetarianism to be published in the U.S. in the 20th century. Because there was a fancy electric typewriter(!) at my desk, I typed each chapter as he wrote it, convincing myself that I, too, could one day write a book. The rest is history! In the spirit of old friends, this week’s “Blast from the Past” is an interview with two other longtime friends and colleagues of mine: Michael Klaper, MD, and Alan Goldhamer, DC, of True North Health: http://www.unity.fm/episode/MainStreetVegan_101712.
