We’ll open today’s show with some lightness — announcing the premier of the world’s first vegan cable talk show, Plant-Based by Nafsika, on the A&E affiliate, FYI, starting Wednesday, July 27 — it’s at 7:30 a.m. here in NYC. Check local listings.
We’ll stay light with out first guest, Brian L. Patton, aka “The Sexy Vegan” — chef, cookbook author, and multimedia personality. Brian has a special offer for MSV listeners: Volume one of “Sexy’s Best” is a pizza recipe with perfect crust and homemade buffalo-style mozzarella. Get the micro-book before its official release and for free at www.thesexyvegan.com. (If you listen after the micro-book’s release, it’ll go for the grand sum of 99 cents.)

After the break, we leave lightness behind and get very serious on a serious topic, abortion, as that topic may be viewed by vegans and animal rights proponents. Our guests are Sherry Colb (you know her from Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger?) and her husband, Michael Dorf, both Cornell University law professors, and co-authors of the new book, Beating Hearts: Abortion and Animal Rights. It’s a departure for us to take on such a controversial topic, but I believe that it was covered with dignity and respect for all views.
