Board-certified cardiologist Dr. Baxter Montgomery has a holistic, plant-centric take on health and healing. He goes beyond simply recommending

a whole foods plant-exclusive diet. At the Montgomery Heart and Wellness Health Center in Houston, Texas, patients dealing with a variety of cardiac issues plus other chronic conditions (complication of diabetes, etc.) are treated not only with Western medical intervention when called for, but also with nutrition as acute intervention. There is even a restaurant attached to his clinic. Setting him apart from some of his plant-based colleagues, Dr. Houston recommends a high-raw iteration of a WFPB diet, and in critical cases, he puts his patients on all raw food for a detox period. The results are often rapid and dramatic. In this episode, he discusses the heart and some of the different ways it can be diseased — we usually think only of coronary and vascular disease — and how nutritional protocols can work in the treating these.
