Main Street Vegan Podcast, Jan 31st, 2018: Pelush Founder on Faux Fur + 2020 or Bust: Let’s Seriously Save This Planet with Laughlin Artz

You can also listen and download the Main Street Vegan Podcast on Unity Online Radio or listen and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, IROARSpotify or Stitcher.

It’s a New Year – let’s make it a new world. 2020 or Bust founder Laughlin Artz believes we have to do this — and quickly; by 2020. Tune in to be part of the solution.

And as our starter, no one does faux like our guest Anna Tagliabue of Pelush, the NYC startup that’s garnered raves from the fashion press and Forbes.com. What do you think about luxurious faux fur? I have to admit, I was not a fan — why emulate such a cruel product? — but just as I’ve been swayed by the power of high-quality mock meat to turn people from eating death to living life, I’m now convinced that gorgeous faux fur, as well, has a true role to play in the shift to compassionate consumption.

Anna Tagliabue grew in one of the world’s fashion capitals, Milan, and has spent the last two decades as a  womenswear buyer, personal shopper and stylist in the influential luxury houses of Fendi and Prada. Anna is well known and respected among fashion editors, celebrities, and style makers for her attention to detail, her knowing eye and unmatched ability to cohesively style for any occasion. Pelush is Anna’s personal and original idea for changing the way faux fur is perceived and worn.

Laughlin Artz believes with all the amazing work being done to address climate change, one thing is glaringly missing: what it’s going to take to end it. Thus began his mission – to bring to the world the reality of the climate crisis, and with that, the opportunity to end it. The ordinary person sees climate change as too complex, too big, something for governments and institutions to deal with and resolve, something we can get to later, all of which leaves people in a trance of hope, denial, best efforts, gestures and business as usual. To awaken people from that trance is the job of 2020 or Bust; to bring the reality of ending the crisis into the global consciousness and with it, the power for civil society to step up and make the difference in bridging the 2020 gap. The goal: to engage 500 million people in this planet-saving effort — the largest citizen engagement campaign ever.
