In the featured guest segment: the legendary John Robbins, the man who gave up his BaskinRobbins inheritance to live a more sustainable and ethical life than the ice cream business would have afforded him. The author the million-selling Diet for a New America and more than a dozen other groundbreaking books may be found at foodrevolution.org and johnrobbins.info.
Blast from the past: Diet for a New America made a huge splash in the 1990s, and so did Howard Lyman when he appeared on the Oprah show, prompted Oprah to say “I’ll never eat another burger,” and they were both famously sued by a Texas cattlemen’s association. They won after much litigation. Howard, author of Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won’t Eat Meat, appeared on the Main Street Vegan Podcast on May 6, 2015. The other guest that day was environmentalist and humanitarian Alexandra Paul, who heated up the small screen in the 90s as one of the Baywatch babes.
