Vegan gastronomy has become a great, glorious thing, and our first guest, Jenny Di Leo of Vanilla-Bean.com,

shares about the new app that features vegan, eco-friendly, gluten-free, and locally sourced dining options around the world — no surprise there, since VanillaBean is based in Bavaria, with staff in the UK, as well. The app’s aim is to serve vegans as we seek the best places to dine at home and when we travel, but also to appeal to environmentalists who want to decrease their carbon footprint and haven’t yet made the connection that eating vegan needs to be at the top of that list.

Sally Lipsky, Ph.D, was approaching 30 years as a professor of education at a state university when a late-stage diagnosis of ovarian cancer sent her down a very different path: first, becoming cancer-free via traditional means, then discovering the Whole Foods Plant-Based diet and defying the odds by remaining cancer free not just 5 years — 38 percent of survivors of this particular type of cancer live to celebrate this milestone — but 10 years with no recurrences. She is now a full-time plant-based educator and author, and her book is a wonderful read for anyone concerned about cancer or for anyone who just wants to eat healthy and live well. She uses her education background to make it both a book and a workbook, packed with information and yummy recipes, but also with unique ways to solidify new habits and make this change in eating work for you, your family, your background, and even your cravings and comfort foods.

The book: Beyond Cancer: The Powerful Effect of Plant-Based Eating
